Protecting Mauna Kea

Mauna Kea is a very sacred place. It is the highest mountain in Hawaii, and from sea level, it is the tallest mountain in the world. Nasa has been building telescopes or, as they call them, "observatories", on the summit of this sacred mountain. These "observatories" are huge, ugly, destructive, and polluting. They are also filled with mercury that could spill and that could be lethal. The wekiu bug, which is endemic to Mauna Kea, are being extremely endangered by this development. We have been trying to stop Nasa for years, so we need to make sure they do not destroy the mountain any more than they already have.

...

Hey so everybody can tell this is a blog about Mauna Kea. Josh and Isaac and I are doing a project on Mauna Kea, which includes this blog, as well as hopefully flying out next month to Big Island to testify against the development of "the biggest telescope in the world" up at Mauna Kea, and to visit Mauna Kea.
